Upholsterer

1.1 Regular Duties:

1.1.1 Upholsters furniture frames; reupholsters old pieces of furniture’s by removing worn cover and base materials, rebuilding base materials and recovering surface.

1.1.2 Covers pieces of furniture with upholstery fabric; cuts the fabric to fit the furniture; fits fabric in corners and at edges; may apply a layer of gray padding under the covering; tacks covering to wooden frame, taking care to see that the fabric is tight and smooth.

1.1.3 Makes loose cushions for furniture. Cuts fabric and sews edges together by hand or sewing machine; stuffs cushion with padding material and sews the open end by hand.

1.2 Occasional Duties:

1.2.1 Replace, fabricate and sew upholstery materials for new and old chairs, sofas and beds.

1.2.2 Creates, repairs and sews new and old drapery and other wall fabric materials.

1.3 Performs other duties as may be assigned by the immediate superior. (Does not apply to top management.)
