Upper School Grounds Position

Upper School Grounds Position

Wyoming Seminary Upper School is seeking a dependable and hardworking individual to join the Maintenance Team. This groundskeeper position is a 12-month support staff position reporting directly to the Maintenance Supervisor at the Upper School campus located in Kingston, PA. The working hours for this position are 7:00 am - 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday. This individual provides the maintenance and care of the school grounds that are necessary to maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety throughout the school campus.

Responsibilities

• Turf Management: Mowing, edging, and maintaining campus lawns
• Seasonal Cleanup: Raking leaves, clearing debris, and managing snow or ice removal during winter months.
• Flora Care: Planting, watering, pruning, and trimming trees, shrubs, hedges, and flower beds to maintain safety and visual appeal.
• Equipment Operation: Safely operating commercial mowers, leaf blowers, chainsaws, hedge trimmers and school vehicles.
• Logistics/Event Setup: Sets up campus areas both inside and outside for special events as required.
• Preventative Maintenance: Performs preventative maintenance on vehicles, grass cutting, and snow removal equipment.
• Emergency Response: Responds to emergency calls on campus
• Environment Maintenance: Upholds high standards of cleanliness, order, and safety across all campus facilities, ensuring a positive first impression for students, staff, and external guests.
• Communications: Ability to interact professionally and effectively with staff, students and external guests with a service - oriented attitude.
• Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Previous institutional or commercial landscaping experience.
• Knowledge and experience with grass cutting and snow removal equipment.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position.
• Must be reliable and able to work independently.
• Must have a valid driver’s license .
• Must be able to pass background and all clearances required to work in a school.

Physical Demands

• Work is medium to heavy with considerable walking and other movements.
• Work requires considerable physical effort or manual dexterity.
• Must be able to lift and operate grass cutting and snow removal equipment.
• Must be able to climb and balance at various heights, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
• Work is performed outside in seasonal temperatures as well as inside of buildings.
