Urgent Care Physician Assistant

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Urgent Care Physician Assistant to join our fast-paced healthcare team. Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive physical examinations and patient assessments to determine urgent medical needs.
• Manage acute pain and stabilize patients through appropriate interventions, including suturing, injection administration, and airway management.
• Utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic and eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation of patient encounters, medical records, and data collection.
• Conduct diagnostic evaluations including interpreting diagnostic tests, radiology reports, and laboratory results to inform clinical decisions.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement effective treatment plans.
• Triage incoming patients efficiently to prioritize care based on severity while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Administer medications in accordance with Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) regulations and maintain proper medication administration records.
• Assist in procedures such as suturing lacerations, performing dermal fillers or esthetic laser treatments (if qualified), and managing airway or ventilator support when necessary.
• Participate in clinical research or clinical trials related to urgent care practices to advance evidence-based medicine.
• Support discharge planning, follow-up care instructions, and patient education to ensure optimal recovery outcomes.

Requirements

• Valid Physician Assistant license with current certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Proven experience in urgent care settings or emergency medicine with familiarity in hospital environments or Level I/II trauma centers preferred.
• Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks; experience with telehealth platforms is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding standards for billing and documentation purposes.
• Critical care experience including ventilator management, ICU procedures, airway management, and infectious disease care is highly desirable.
• Skilled in performing physical examinations, diagnostic test interpretation, drug administration, and aseptic techniques.
• Ability to handle high-pressure situations efficiently while maintaining excellent client communication skills.
• Knowledge of hospital medicine protocols including trauma response procedures and post-acute care processes such as dialysis or hospice & palliative medicine is advantageous.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams under collaborative practice agreements.

Pay: $60.00 - $72.00 per hour
