URGENT! Technical Superintendent

About the role

The Technical Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the technical operation, maintenance, safety, and regulatory compliance of assigned vessels. The role ensures that vessel machinery, equipment, and technical systems are maintained in optimal operating condition through effective preventive maintenance planning, technical support, budget management, and compliance with maritime regulations. The position also serves as the administrator and subject matter expert for the Preventive Maintenance System (PMS), ensuring its effective implementation across the fleet.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee technical operation, maintenance, safety, and regulatory compliance of assigned vessels
• Ensure vessel machinery, equipment, and technical systems are maintained in optimal operating condition
• Conduct effective preventive maintenance planning and technical support
• Manage budgets and ensure compliance with maritime regulations
• Administer and implement the Preventive Maintenance System (PMS) across the fleet
• Manage maintenance planning, project management, and cost control
• Conduct technical analysis and troubleshooting of vessel systems
• Collaborate with shipboard and shore-based personnel

About you

• Bachelor's Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
• At least 3 years experience as Chief Engineer
• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in the maritime industry, preferably in vessel technical operations, maintenance management, ship management, or fleet operations
• At least two (2) years of hands-on experience with Preventive Maintenance Systems (PMS), including maintenance planning, scheduling, administration, and troubleshooting
• Strong knowledge of marine machinery, vessel maintenance, dry-docking activities, technical procurement, and maritime regulations, including Class and Flag State requirements
• Proven experience in maintenance planning, project management, budget preparation, and cost control
• Excellent troubleshooting, technical analysis, and problem-solving skills
• Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and maintenance management systems
• Physically fit and willing to travel and board vessels as required
