User Researcher

What You'll Do:

• Ensure you achieve a Daily Target of 15–20 minute conversations with 12–15 Business Poster users — how they used the app last week, what they were promoting, what they abandoned halfway
• Push past the first answer. "It's good" is where the conversation starts, not where it ends
• Listen for the gap between what users say they want and what they actually do in the app — that gap is where the real insight lives
• Write a tight summary after every call: the pattern, the one quote worth repeating, and anything that surprised you
• Track every reaction to pricing and the paywall — where people hesitate, what they expected to pay, what made them close the app
• Flag recurring pain points and feature requests with frequency and context, so the team knows what's a trend and what's one loud user

Business Poster is a fast, easy-to-use design app built for small business owners. From restaurant specials and salon offers to real estate listings, sale announcements and event flyers, we help business owners create professional promotional posters in minutes — no design skills needed. Our users are restaurant owners, salon and barbershop owners, realtors, gym owners, contractors, retailers and solo entrepreneurs who need marketing material today, not next week. We're committed to a user-centric experience, and we're looking for a User Researcher to join our team remotely from the USA.

Role Overview:

As a User Researcher at Business Poster, you will play a crucial role in understanding our users' needs, preferences, and pain points. You will facilitate direct communication with the small business owners who use our app and act as their advocate within the company. Your insights will drive the improvement and development of our product, ensuring it stays genuinely useful for people running a business. You will need to be fluent in English to effectively communicate with our users and our international team.

Key responsibilities:

• User Engagement: Act as a direct communication channel between Business Poster and our US users by conducting 40-50 user calls per day with small business owners to gather valuable feedback.
• User Feedback Collection: Develop and implement strategies to collect user feedback, including surveys, interviews, and feedback sessions, to gain deep insights into how business owners promote their business, what they create, and where they get stuck.
• Data Analysis: Analyze user data and feedback to identify trends, recurring needs across business categories, and areas for improvement in the app.
• Competitive Analysis: Stay informed about industry trends and competitors in the design and small business marketing space to provide insights and recommendations for keeping Business Poster at the forefront of the market.
• Reporting: Regularly compile and present research findings and insights to the leadership team and key stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• At least 1 year of experience in user research or a related role.
• Knowledge of user research methodologies and tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with busy business owners effectively and get to the point quickly.
• A passion for understanding user behavior and creating solutions to enhance the user experience.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting while collaborating effectively with a global team.
• Comfort speaking with small business owners across a range of industries is a strong plus.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year

Work Location: Remote
