Land and Power Ltd

About us
Land and Power Ltd is a NERS-accredited Independent Connection Provider and civil/electrical engineering contractor based in Henfield, West Sussex. We design and deliver electrical connections from LV up to 33kV for developers, landowners and utilities across the South East, alongside solar and wind construction, coastal and flood-defence civils, and the associated groundworks. We're a close-knit, hands-on team and we're growing, which is why we're looking for an experienced civil operative to join us.
The role
You'll be a key member of our site teams installing the civil infrastructure that sits behind every electrical connection we deliver: excavation, ducting, cable laying and pulling, chambers, reinstatement and everything in between. Work is predominantly in the highway and on development sites, so streetworks competence and a safe-digging mindset are essential.
Day to day you'll be:

Setting out and installing draw pits, chambers, bases and plinths for substations and switchgear

Scanning for and avoiding underground services using CAT & Genny and utility drawings

Backfilling, compacting and reinstating to NRSWA/HAUC specification

Setting up and maintaining safe streetworks sites, including signing, lighting and guarding

Operating plant (excavators, dumpers, rollers) where ticketed

Working safely to our RAMS, permits and DNO/client requirements, and keeping good site records

Occasionally helping out with agricultural and estate work on the farm where we're based

What we're looking for – essential

Proven experience installing ducting and cabling on electrical infrastructure / utilities projects

NRSWA Streetworks operative card (Units 1 & 2 as a minimum; further units an advantage)

Current CPCS/NPORS plant tickets (360° excavator and/or forward-tipping dumper)

Full UK driving licence

Sound understanding of site health & safety; CSCS card

A practical, reliable, can-do attitude and the ability to work well in a small team

Desirable

Driver CPC and C1 (7.5 tonne) entitlement

Agricultural or estate experience – plant, machinery, fencing, groundcare

HV/LV cable jointing or termination awareness

Confined spaces, abrasive wheels, manual handling or first aid certification

Experience working to UKPN / SSEN specifications

What we offer

Competitive salary, dependent on experience and qualifications

Permanent, full-time position with a well-established, growing local business

Varied work across electrical infrastructure, renewables, coastal civils and the farm – no two weeks the same
