Utility Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Utilities / Water Mains Engineer to join our team. The role focuses on the installation, repair, and maintenance of water mains and associated infrastructure, alongside the delivery of trenchless installation works including moling and horizontal directional drilling (HDD).

This is a hands-on position requiring technical competence, a strong understanding of water regulations, and the ability to work efficiently in both open-cut and trenchless environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Water Mains & Infrastructure

• Install, repair, and replace water mains (MDPE and other materials) in
• Undertake leak detection, fault finding, and remedial works on underground assets.
• Install associated infrastructure including stop taps and boundary boxes, valves, hydrants, and service connections.
• Carry out reinstatement and backfilling.

Trenchless Installation (Moling & HDD)

• Operate and assist with trenchless installation equipment including impact moling and horizontal directional drilling.
• Install ducts and pipework using trenchless techniques.
• Interpret utility drawings and plans to safely navigate existing services.

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Carry out risk assessments and adhere to safe systems of work.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and site organisation.

Skills & Experience Required

• Proven experience in water mains installation and repair.
• Experience with trenchless technologies (moling and/or HDD preferred).
• Strong understanding of underground utilities and safe digging practices.
• Ability to read and interpret utility drawings and site plans.
• Experience with excavation, reinstatement, and groundwork operations.
• Knowledge of UK Water Regulations and industry standards.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £32,500.00-£47,500.00 per year
