Utility Interconnection Consultant

Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Utility Interconnection Consultant to support growing demand for electrical capacity upgrades and utility interconnection services across its U.S. portfolio.

The consultant will work directly with customers, internal teams, and utility providers to assess electrical power requirements, navigate utility interconnection processes, and coordinate electrical service upgrades for warehouses, industrial buildings, and other commercial properties.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with strong technical knowledge of electrical infrastructure and experience managing utility interconnection projects independently.

Responsibilities

• Manage utility interconnection requests for commercial and industrial properties, including warehouses and distribution facilities.
• Coordinate directly with utility companies to understand interconnection requirements, application processes, and approval timelines.
• Prepare and manage load letter applications, large-load studies, and electrical service upgrade requests.
• Work with customers to assess electrical capacity requirements and identify potential gaps between existing infrastructure and anticipated power needs.
• Review equipment lists, electrical load calculations, and available capacity to identify discrepancies and recommend solutions.
• Troubleshoot technical challenges and navigate utility-specific requirements to move projects forward.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, utilities, and internal stakeholders.
• Independently manage multiple interconnection projects from initial assessment through utility coordination and approval.

Qualifications

• Experience managing utility interconnection processes, including load applications and electrical service upgrades.
• Strong understanding of utility requirements and approval processes for commercial and industrial properties.
• Technical or engineering background, preferably with knowledge of electrical loads, power distribution, and infrastructure
• Experience coordinating with utility providers through solar, EV charging, renewable energy, or energy services projects
• Ability to interpret electrical capacity requirements, review equipment loads, and resolve technical discrepancies.
• Strong project management, problem-solving, and customer-facing communication skills.
• Ability to independently research utility requirements and manage multiple projects with minimal oversight.

• Location: Remote, with occasional on-site visit within the U.S
• Expected range: US$125 - US$150 per hour
