Utility Locating Technician

POSITION SUMMARY
Join our team as an Underground Utility Locator! We are seeking quality-focused, independent problem solvers who enjoy working outdoors. You will accurately locate and mark underground infrastructure using electromagnetic tools and GIS maps in response to 811 tickets. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Locate & Mark Utilities: Identify underground utilities using specialized equipment (GPR, electromagnetic tools) and mark sites using paint, flags, and stakes in compliance with 811 laws.
• Maps & Technology: Read and interpret utility maps, as-built drawings, and GIS data to safely clear dig sites and prevent utility damage.
• Documentation: Upload accurate records, mark-out photographs, and ticket details promptly via the company's designated digital platform.
• Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance: Maintain assigned company vehicle, locating gear, and safety tools in proper working condition; conduct pre-trip checks.
• Safety & Field Work: Drive assigned vehicle across territory daily. Work in varying weather conditions and terrain. Participate in rotating on-call, overtime, and weekend shifts as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

• Education & Credentials: High school diploma or equivalent; valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Physical & Environmental: Comfortable working outdoors in diverse weather conditions; ability to lift/carry equipment and perform routine physical field work.
• Core Competencies: Strong map-reading skills, close attention to detail, computer literacy, and a high commitment to public safety.
• Experience: Prior utility locating, construction, or field technician experience is a plus, but not required.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• Competitive Pay: $21.00 – $25.00 per hour (Non-Exempt, overtime-eligible).
