What they need

Utility Program Manager

Fully Remote (California) | Full-Time | $100,000 to $135,000 plus incentives

A rare seat at the center of California’s grid:

OSI Engineering is hiring a Utility Program Manager to lead our programs supporting the largest electric and gas utility in Northern California.

This is not an account you inherit and administer. You will own the relationship, run the delivery, and grow the footprint. California’s grid is in the middle of the largest modernization effort in its history, and our client sits at the center of it. The person in this seat helps decide how OSI shows up in that work.

If you have spent a decade in the utility world, understand how a large investor-owned utility actually makes decisions, and have a network you have earned rather than bought, this role gives you the room to use all of it.

What you’ll do:

  • Own the client relationship . You are the face of OSI to division managers, hiring managers, technical leads, and decision makers across the client organization. You will learn how each group works, what they need before they ask, and how to get to yes inside a large utility.
  • Run the programs . Day-to-day delivery, performance, escalations, and issue resolution sit with you. When something breaks, you fix it, and you do it without waiting for permission. You will work shoulder to shoulder with OSI’s recruiting, service delivery, HR, and operations teams to keep the programs healthy.
  • Know the contracts cold . RFPs, MSAs, SOWs, change orders, and purchase orders. You will support and participate in all of it, understand how each SOW translates into obligations for our people in the field, and help leadership see risk and opportunity early.
  • Grow the account . You will find openings in groups we do not serve yet, bring your network to bear, and work with OSI leadership and Business Development to shape what comes next. Grid modernization, rising load demand, and aging infrastructure are creating real demand. Your job is to help us meet it.
  • Protect the standard . Utility Codes of Conduct, compliance requirements, and client expectations flow through you to every OSI employee and contractor on the program.

What we’re looking for:

  • 10+ years of utility experience. Electric and/or gas background, with overhead operations strongly preferred
  • Exposure across Distribution, Transmission, Substation, and Generation environments
  • Deep working knowledge of how a large investor-owned utility operates. Direct experience with a large California utility is a significant plus
  • Experience supporting or managing utility programs, projects, accounts, or client relationships
  • Fluency with RFPs, MSAs, SOWs, POs, and change orders
  • An established network of utility relationships you can actually pick up the phone and use
  • The judgment to make decisions quickly and solve problems in real time, without a lot of oversight
  • Strong understanding of utility compliance requirements and Codes of Conduct
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office, Teams, and everyday business technology

Preferred background:

  • Worked directly for a large utility
  • Supported a large utility through a prime contractor, engineering company, supplier, or consulting organization
  • Existing relationships with utility managers and industry professionals
  • Experience managing technical or field-based utility workforces
  • Knowledge of QEW, inspection, transmission, distribution, substation, generation, or related utility programs
  • Experience navigating large utility organizations and building relationships across multiple business units

Schedule, location, and travel:

  • Work arrangement : Fully remote
  • Schedule : Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM Pacific
  • Location : Open to candidates across California. Northern or Central California strongly preferred given the travel.
  • Travel : Approximately 10% to 15%. You will meet with client stakeholders on site in Fresno, Sacramento, Stockton, Oakland, and San Ramon, with occasional visits to other locations across Central and Northern California as the programs require.

Compensation:

$100,000 to $35,000 per year, plus incentives. Base pay will depend on experience, and the incentive component is tied to program performance and account growth. The range above reflects what OSI reasonably expects to pay for this position.

Why OSI:

We have built something real with this client, and we are looking for the person who can take it further. You will have direct access to leadership, the authority to make decisions, and the support of a recruiting and delivery organization that knows the utility space. If you want to be a trusted partner to a major California utility rather than a name on a vendor list, this is the seat.

OSI Engineering, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
