UX Engineer (Manager Level)

About the role

Bridge product design and front-end engineering by translating approved experience designs into accessible, reusable and production-ready interface components. Own the technical implementation of the Sun Life design system for local digital channels, protect design fidelity from Figma to production, and enable full stack developers and delivery partners to build consistent web and mobile experiences efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, test and maintain reusable user-interface components, coded patterns and design tokens aligned with the Sun Life Helios design system and approved local adaptations.
• Translate Figma designs and interaction specifications into responsive, accessible and high-fidelity front-end experiences for web and mobile channels.
• Create code-based prototypes to validate interaction behaviour, technical feasibility, responsive layouts and complex journey concepts before full development.
• Partner with product designers and full stack developers to define component contracts, states, usage guidance, acceptance criteria and design-to-code handover standards.
• Embed accessibility, browser and device compatibility, front-end performance, automated testing and secure coding requirements into interface components.
• Review internal and vendor-written front-end code, document reusable assets and contribute approved components and improvements to shared design-system libraries.

Requirements

• Advanced HTML, CSS, JavaScript and TypeScript
• Modern front-end engineering using React or an equivalent approved framework
• Reusable component libraries, Storybook, design tokens and component documentation
• Figma inspection, interactive prototyping and design-system implementation
• Responsive web and mobile interface development
• Accessibility standards, semantic markup and keyboard or assistive-technology support
• Front-end automated testing, visual regression testing, version control and code review
• Performance optimisation, browser compatibility and secure front-end development
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, interaction design or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 4 years of front-end or UX engineering experience delivering production digital applications.
