What they need
Coding Supervisor — Extensive VA Experience Required
Health Information Partners® (HIP) is seeking an experienced Coding Supervisor with a strong background supporting U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) coding operations. This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on leader who combines coding expertise with effective supervision, quality oversight, and staff development.
Responsibilities
- Supervise coding staff, monitor assignments, and support timely, accurate completion of work.
- Review coding quality and productivity, identify trends, and provide actionable feedback and education.
- Serve as a resource for complex coding questions and VA-specific documentation and coding requirements.
- Coordinate with client leadership and HIP management to address workflow gaps, resolve concerns, and communicate results.
- Contribute directly to coding and review activities as needed.
Qualifications
- Extensive, recent experience coding for VA healthcare facilities is required. General hospital experience alone does not meet this requirement.
- Prior coding supervisory, management, or team lead experience.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT/HCPCS, and applicable coding guidelines relevant to assigned services.
- Experience with VA coding workflows and systems, including VistA/CPRS and/or Oracle Health/Cerner.
- An active coding credential such as CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or an equivalent credential appropriate to the work.
- Excellent communication, follow-through, problem-solving, and coaching skills.
Interested candidates: Please submit your résumé and a brief summary of your VA experience, including facilities supported, inpatient/outpatient coding background, systems used, and supervisory responsibilities.
This posting supports recruitment for anticipated VA opportunities. Placement and start date are contingent upon contract award and client requirements.
