Vac Ex Driver

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and reliable Vacuum Excavator (Vac-Ex) Driver / Operator to join our growing utilities team working across gas and water infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating vacuum excavation equipment to expose underground utilities while minimising risk and damage to existing services.

This role is ideal for someone with experience working in the utilities, civils, or streetworks sector who understands the importance of safety, compliance, and teamwork on live sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate vacuum excavation vehicles safely and efficiently on gas and water utility sites
• Work alongside site supervisors, groundworkers, and utility teams
• Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and company procedures
• Conduct daily vehicle checks and basic maintenance
• Maintain site cleanliness and safe working practices
• Follow permits, risk assessments, and method statements
• Accurately complete job records and paperwork

Requirements

• Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence
• CPC and Digital Tachograph Card
• CSCS / NPORS / CPCS relevant plant cards
• Experience operating Vac-Ex / suction excavation vehicles
• Experience working around gas and water utilities
• Good understanding of underground service avoidance
• Strong commitment to safety and teamwork
• Ability to work outdoors in varying site conditions

Desirable Certifications

• EUSR Utility SHEA (Gas & Water)
• First Aid or other site safety qualifications

Pay: £210.00-£230.00 per day
