Vacation Student - Pathway Program

Curious about what a career in mining could look like? Our Pathways Program is for first and second-year students who are looking to get their foot in the door and experience the mining industry from the ground up.

This is an opportunity to spend your summer on site, learning how a mining operation works, building practical skills and getting to know the people behind the operation. You'll gain hands-on experience in mining operations, work alongside experienced teams and develop an understanding of what it takes to keep a mine running.

Depending on business needs and your site placement, your experience could include operating mobile equipment or supporting other operational areas. You'll receive the training and support you need to get involved and make the most of your experience.

This program is a first step in building your experience and adding to your resume. High-performing students may have the opportunity to return to Genesis in future vacation programs in a more discipline-specific role, helping you build on your experience as you progress through your studies.

The Opportunity
As a Pathways Vacation Student, you will:

• Gain hands-on exposure to the day-to-day operation of a mining site.
• Develop an understanding of how different areas of an operation work together.
• Complete training and gain practical experience in an operational role.
• Build your workplace skills, confidence and industry knowledge.
• Connect with experienced people across the operation and build your professional network.
• Get a genuine taste of life in mining and explore where a career with Genesis could take you

We're excited to hear from you

• You are currently studying at university, ideally in a discipline relevant to the mining industry, such as Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or Surveying.
• Have an interest in exploring a career in the mining or resources industry.
• Bring a positive and willingness to learn attitude.
• The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• A commitment to safety and following workplace procedures.
