Validation Engineer

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage validation plans for mechanical, electrical, and environmental failure modes in interior trim and seating systems.
• Partner with design engineers to define requirements, support DFMEA development, and ensure requirements are incorporated into validation plans.
• Identify test assets, data acquisition systems, instrumentation, sensors, and fixtures required for accurate component and system testing.
• Coordinate internal, external, and supplier-led validation activities, including schedules, resources, test assets, and critical-path risks.
• Analyze test data, document findings, investigate failures and root causes, and collaborate with engineering teams on mitigation strategies and design improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 2+ years of test or validation experience involving automotive interior trim and seating systems.
• Experience with failure investigation, root-cause analysis, and applicable automotive testing standards.
• Experience developing and managing DFMEAs.
• Experience with requirements management platforms such as Polarion or equivalent tools; familiarity with CATIA 3DX, CATIA V5, SolidWorks, or automotive passive safety systems is preferred.
