Validation Engineer

ASIC Validation Engineer | Semiconductor | Contract

I'm currently working with a specialist semiconductor technology business looking to bring an experienced ASIC Validation Engineer into their engineering team.

This is an opportunity to work on the validation and characterisation of advanced mixed-signal and analogue integrated circuits, supporting semiconductor solutions used across industrial, automotive and biomedical applications.

The successful engineer will play a key role in ensuring manufactured silicon performs against design specifications, working closely with ASIC design, product engineering and application teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform post-silicon validation, silicon bring-up and characterisation of mixed-signal and analogue ICs.
• Validate silicon performance against datasheets, simulations and design expectations.
• Develop and execute laboratory-based test methodologies.
• Design and develop test hardware, including PCB-related validation solutions.
• Develop automated test and measurement software using Python, MATLAB or equivalent.
• Investigate and debug silicon, system and measurement setup issues.
• Analyse test results, identify root causes and document findings.
• Collaborate with design, product engineering and applications teams throughout the semiconductor development lifecycle.

What We're Looking For:

• 6+ years of relevant experience in semiconductor product development or post-silicon validation.
• Strong understanding of analogue and digital electronics, particularly mixed-signal ICs.
• Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, SMUs and logic analysers.
• Experience with silicon bring-up, device characterisation and datasheet validation.
• Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW or similar test automation environments.
• Understanding of schematic capture, PCB design and validation hardware development.
• Strong debugging, analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Desirable Experience:

• Altium Designer, Git and Jira.
• FPGA or microcontroller development.
• Experience working across industrial, automotive or biomedical semiconductor applications
