What they need

Validation Technician | Field-based with UK travel | iM Med Ltd | South Region

Are you an engineer who wants your work to directly support patient safety?

iM Med is a UK specialist in healthcare decontamination. We keep the equipment that hospitals rely on to clean and sterilise medical instruments running safely and in line with the regulations. We’re growing our Service team and are looking for a Validation Technician to support clients across the south region.

The role

You’ll be home-based, travelling to hospital and client sites to service, test and validate decontamination equipment. You’ll report to our Service Area Manager.

What you’ll be doing

  • Carrying out routine servicing, periodic testing and validations of client equipment
  • Investigating faults, then repairing or modifying machines on site
  • Giving first-line technical advice to clients over the phone
  • Carrying out site surveys and advising clients on utilities, services and applications
  • Completing retrofits, upgrades, modifications and safety recalls
  • Supporting our Technical Team with installation and commissioning projects
  • Producing clear, timely validation and periodic test reports

What you’ll need

  • At least 5 years’ work experience, ideally in an engineering role
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Confident IT skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, plus experience of working with databases
  • Strong communication skills, comfortable dealing with clients by phone and face to face
  • A methodical, proactive approach and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • A team player who is flexible, approachable and keen to keep learning
  • A full, clean driving licence

It would be great if you also have

  • Field service engineering experience, ideally on medical capital equipment
  • Knowledge of decontamination, CSSD or endoscopy procedures
  • Experience with Getinge or Steelco products
  • An electrical installation or engineering qualification, such as an apprenticeship, C&Gs or an HNC/HND
  • City & Guilds 7303 or 6302 (or equivalent) and the current IEE Wiring Regulations

What’s in it for you

  • Competitive salary + company vehicle / car allowance
  • 28 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Full product training, so you become skilled across our whole equipment range
  • Company pension
  • Annual Bonus
  • Private health insurance
  • Life assurance

Please note: this is a hands-on role. You’ll work in decontamination areas, theatres and endoscopy suites. You may occasionally need to stay away overnight for training or to support colleagues.

Other offers great for you!
