Vegetation Scoper

About the role

As a Vegetation Scoper, you will be responsible for inspecting vegetation in proximity to electrical assets and powerlines, identifying clearance requirements, and preparing detailed scopes of work for vegetation management crews. Working predominantly in the field, you will assess vegetation-related risks, engage with landowners and stakeholders, and help ensure the safe and efficient delivery of vegetation management programs.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct inspections of vegetation near overhead powerlines and electrical infrastructure.
• Assess vegetation growth and identify clearance defects and hazards.
• Prepare accurate scopes of work for vegetation trimming and removal activities.
• Record site data using mobile technology and GIS-based systems.
• Liaise professionally with property owners, residents, councils, and other stakeholders.
• Ensure all work complies with utility standards, regulations, and safety requirements.
• Identify potential access, environmental, and operational risks.
• Maintain accurate records, photographs, and field notes.
• Work collaboratively with planners, field crews, and project managers.

About you

• Experience in vegetation management, arboriculture, forestry, land management, utilities, or a related field.
• A strong understanding of vegetation clearance requirements around powerline infrastructure.
• Excellent attention to detail and observational skills.
• Strong communication and customer service abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage a geographic work area.
• Proficiency in using tablets, mobile applications, and Microsoft Office.
• A current Australian Driver's Licence.
• Knowledge of powerline vegetation management standards (highly regarded).
• Certificate III in Arboriculture or related qualification (desirable but not essential).
