What they need

Vehicle Mechanic — 2nd ShiftIf You Can Keep a Fleet Moving, We Want to Talk.

We’re not looking for someone who just knows how to change oil.

We’re looking for a real vehicle mechanic who can walk into a shop, look at a vehicle, figure out what it needs, and get it back on the road.

If you’re the person your friends call when their truck starts making a noise they can’t explain, keep reading.

This is a hands-on fleet mechanic position working primarily on gas-powered cars, pickups, trucks, and work vehicles, with some diesel equipment mixed in. You do not need to be a master diesel technician. If heavier diesel work needs to be outsourced, we can outsource it.

What we need is someone extremely solid at the everyday work that keeps vehicles running.

What You'll Be Doing

You’ll be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing our fleet, including:

  • Oil and filter changes
  • Air filters and routine preventative maintenance
  • Brake jobs
  • Fluid services
  • Tire and basic suspension-related work
  • Batteries, belts, hoses, and common wear items
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting
  • Check-engine-light and scanner diagnostics
  • Identifying problems before they turn into expensive breakdowns
  • Working through vehicles systematically and keeping maintenance on schedule

Most of our vehicles are 2006 or newer.

There is diagnostic work involved, and we have computer scanners available. You should be comfortable plugging into a vehicle, reading codes, troubleshooting the problem, and knowing when something needs further attention.

Your Schedule Is Actually Pretty Good

2:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Monday - Friday 5 days per week

No weekends required.

Want additional hours? Weekend work may be available if you want the overtime.

This shift is intentional. The vehicles are coming back as the operating crews finish their day, which gives you the opportunity to work through the fleet while equipment is available instead of fighting everyone for access to it.

Who We Want

You might be coming from:

Firestone.
Goodyear.
Pep Boys.
A dealership.
An independent automotive shop.
A fleet maintenance department.
A landscaping or construction company maintaining its own trucks.

We care less about the logo on your shirt and more about whether you can actually turn a wrench and diagnose a vehicle.

You should be someone who can be trusted to look at a vehicle and say:

“This needs brakes.”

“This bearing is going.”

“That noise isn't normal.”

“This can wait.”

“This needs fixed tonight.”

We don't want a parts changer who needs someone standing over their shoulder all night.

We want someone who understands vehicles.

Big Plus — But Not Required

If you can also work on mowers, small engines, or other equipment, that's valuable.

But make no mistake: this is primarily a vehicle mechanic position.

Compensation

Compensation is based on experience and ability.

For the right mechanic, we're willing to pay competitively.

We aren't going to lose a great technician over a couple dollars an hour.

There are also opportunities for 40+ hours and overtime depending on workload and how much you want to work.

The Bottom Line

We need someone who takes pride in keeping equipment running.

Someone who catches problems before a truck is sitting on the side of the road.

Someone who can work independently.

Someone who doesn't need to be reminded that preventative maintenance matters.

And someone who wants a steady position with a 2 PM–10 PM schedule and no mandatory weekends.

If you know vehicles and you know you're good at what you do, apply.

Tell us what you normally work on, what repairs you're strongest at, and what you can diagnose without someone holding your hand.

Pay: $26.05 - $31.37 per hour

Work Location: In person
