Vehicle mechanic

Renterprice Limited is looking for an experienced Vehicle Mechanic / Vehicle Repair Technician to join our growing vehicle hire and repair business.

The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, servicing and repairing vehicles to a high standard. You will work on our own hire fleet as well as customers’ vehicles, so we are looking for someone who is confident carrying out mechanical work independently and can identify faults accurately.

The role will include servicing and general vehicle maintenance, diagnostics and fault finding, brake repairs, suspension and steering work, tyre-related work, replacing worn or faulty components, preparing vehicles for use and carrying out general mechanical repairs.

You will also be responsible for identifying any additional work that may be required and clearly communicating this to the office team so that customers can be advised before further work is completed.

You should be able to work safely, efficiently and independently while maintaining a good standard of workmanship.

• Diagnosing mechanical and vehicle faults
• Carrying out servicing and routine maintenance
• Brake repairs and replacement
• Suspension and steering repairs
• General mechanical repairs
• Tyre inspections and related work
• Inspecting vehicles and identifying required repairs
• Preparing and maintaining Renterprice hire vehicles
• Working on customer vehicles
• Keeping the workshop and tools organised
• Recording work completed and parts used
• Liaising with the office team regarding repairs and additional work
• Carrying out basic vehicle safety checks
• Ensuring work is completed safely and to a professional standard

What we are looking for: previous hands-on experience repairing vehicles, good mechanical knowledge, the ability to diagnose problems rather than simply replace parts, reliability, attention to detail and the ability to work independently.

A relevant motor vehicle qualification such as Level 2 or Level 3 Vehicle Maintenance and Repair would be desirable, but practical experience will also be considered.

A full UK driving licence would be strongly preferred because the role may involve moving or road-testing vehicles.
