AutoTyne is bringing together used car sales, skilled mechanics and modern technology to build a dealership group with ambitions to become one of the largest in the North East.

With existing sites in Yorkshire, including Ripon, and plans encompassing York, Newcastle and Middlesbrough, we’re building a business that can grow across the region. We’re looking for an experienced mechanic to join our York operation and play a central part in that growth.

Our plans for York

We’re working towards bringing our York sales forecourt and independent garage operations together into a purpose-refurbished used car dealership. We’re currently operating from a temporary workshop as we progress those plans.

Our ambition is to create a cutting-edge dealership where investment in people, equipment and technology runs through the whole business. That means modern diagnostic tools in the workshop and AI-powered systems supporting vehicle sourcing, stock management, sales and customer service.

We’re adaptable, open to better ideas and willing to invest in tools that help our team do their jobs well. We want to put capabilities usually associated with much larger dealer groups into an independent business that can move quickly and think differently.

Where you fit in

A dealership’s reputation depends on the quality of the cars it sells. Your work will be central to ours.

You’ll inspect and prepare vehicles for sale, diagnose faults, carry out repairs and complete servicing and maintenance across a variety of makes and models. We need someone who takes ownership of their work, spots problems early and cares about getting vehicles ready properly.

Joining at this stage means having a voice in how the workshop develops, from equipment and working practices to how we manage an expanding workload.

What we’re looking for

You’ll have relevant qualifications or substantial practical workshop experience, strong diagnostic and repair skills, and the confidence to work independently.

We value reliability, sound judgement and pride in your workmanship. You don’t need to understand AI—you do need to be open to learning, adaptable and interested in helping us improve.

A full UK driving licence is required. MOT tester status would be an advantage.
