Vehicle Technician/Mechanic

Job Summary
At J B Pipe Motor Engineers we are a long established family run business with over 60 years trading. We are also an RAC and AA approved garage. We are looking to expand our team of qualified technicians and MOT testers. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting vehicle safety inspections in accordance with legal standards, ensuring vehicles meet required safety and environmental criteria. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of vehicle mechanics to contribute to our high standards of service.

Duties

• Conduct vehicle assembly, disassembly and inspection tasks ensuring safety and quality standards
• Diagnose and repair complex vehicle issues with precision using advanced schematics and mechanical knowledge.
• Maintain detailed service records and job cards and communicate with staff about repairs clearly.
• Maintain a clean, organised, safe working enironment and follow safety protocols at all times

Qualifications

• Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary, including manoeuvring vehicle parts or equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills to ensure accurate testing and record keeping.
• Excellent communication skills to explain findings.
• A commitment to maintaining high safety standards within the workshop environment.
• MOT Tester is a bonus but not essential
• Air condtioning qualifications (training can be provided)

Starting hourly wage of £16 an hour. Starting overtime at £24 per hour. Depending on experience and qualifications this could be more. 8:30-17:00 30 minute unpaid lunch break. 2 shorter tea breaks one in the morning one in the afternoon. Your standard hours are 8:30 to 5:30. However the Garage is often open from 8-7 Monday to Friday so there is plenty of opportunity for over time paid at time and half.
