Veneer Press Operator

JOB DESCRIPTION – VENEER PRESS OPERATOR

Department: Joinery / Fit-Out
Reports To: Joinery Supervisor / Production In-Charge

Job Purpose

To operate veneer pressing machines and bond veneer sheets onto MDF, plywood and other panels, ensuring the required quality, finish and production targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate hot and cold veneer press machines according to production requirements and approved operating procedures.
• Read job instructions and drawings to confirm panel dimensions, veneer type, grain direction and finish requirements.
• Inspect veneer sheets and base panels for defects, cleanliness and suitability before pressing.
• Coordinate veneer cutting, matching and jointing to achieve the approved pattern.
• Prepare and apply the specified adhesive evenly, following the manufacturer’s instructions.
• Set pressing temperature, pressure and cycle time according to the material, adhesive and machine requirements.
• Position and align veneer sheets accurately on panels before loading them into the press.
• Monitor pressing operations and handle pressed panels carefully during unloading, cooling and stacking.
• Inspect finished panels for bubbles, peeling, cracks, uneven bonding, surface marks and misalignment.
• Minimise material wastage and promptly report defects, machine faults and production delays.
• Carry out routine cleaning and authorised basic maintenance; coordinate repairs with the maintenance team.
• Follow safety procedures, use required PPE and ensure machine guards and safety devices are functioning.
• Maintain daily production records and keep the work area clean and organised.

Qualifications and Experience

• Secondary school education or relevant technical training preferred.
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience operating veneer press machines in a joinery or furniture manufacturing workshop.
• Practical knowledge of veneers, MDF, plywood, adhesives and pressing processes.
• Ability to read basic drawings and use measuring tools.
• Good attention to detail, quality awareness and ability to work as part of a production team.

Pay: AED2,500.00 - AED3,500.00 per month
