Vertical Transportation Design Engineer

Role Description The Vertical Transportation Design Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Thiruvananthapuram. This role involves designing and engineering vertical transportation systems such as elevators, escalators, and moving walks for a variety of building types, in coordination with internal teams and external stakeholders. The engineer will prepare technical design documents, CAD drawings, specifications, and calculations that align with safety codes, performance criteria, and client requirements. Daily responsibilities include reviewing architectural plans, performing capacity and traffic analysis, coordinating with mechanical and electrical disciplines, and supporting compliance with regional and international standards. The role also includes contributing to multi-disciplinary projects, participating in design reviews, providing technical support during installation and commissioning phases, and assisting with tender documentation and client presentations.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering relevant to building services and vertical transportation systems.
• Proficiency in Design Engineering and Product Design for elevator, escalator, and other vertical transportation solutions.
• Hands-on experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for producing detailed layouts, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Understanding of safety codes, building regulations, and standards related to vertical transportation and fire & life safety.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and capability to perform load, capacity, and traffic analyses.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience in consultancy or building services design is an advantage; familiarity with Middle East codes and standards is a plus.
