Vertical Transportation(VT) Engineer

WSP in the Middle East are seeking a Vertical Transportation Engineer to join us in Amman,Jordan.

The Role

As part of a multidisciplinary design team, you will lead the development, coordination, and management of BIM models for Vertical Transportation systems, including elevators, escalators, moving walkways, and other specialist lifting equipment. This role is integral to delivering high-quality digital project outcomes, ensuring BIM excellence across all project stages.

The successful candidate will combine strong technical BIM expertise with relevant VT industry knowledge. The successful applicant shall be fully conversant with the EN81 suite, ASME A17 and regional building codes.

Responsibilities, Technical Knowledge & Experience:

• Primary responsibility to support the project team throughout the design stages and to produce efficient VT solutions for the client.
• Produce coordinated drawings, schedules, sections, and technical documentation directly from BIM models.
• Validation of VT requirements including shaft dimensions, structural openings, pit depths, overhead requirements, machine room layouts, and other holistic requirements.
• Develop and maintain detailed 3D BIM models for vertical transportation systems using such software as DigiPara, Autodesk Revit and associated BIM platforms.
• Ensure BIM deliverables comply with project BIM Execution Plans (BEPs), Level of Development (LOD) standards, client requirements, and company procedures.
• To create, maintain, and enhance BIM families and parametric content related to vertical transportation systems.
• Support model‑based design reviews and perform quality checks to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.
• Coordinate VT systems with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical and public health disciplines to ensure integrated, clash‑free models.
• Participation in design review/clarification meetings and workshops.

Key Qualifications and soft skills

• Excellent leadership skills
• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in BIM modelling and coordination, preferably in Vertical Transportation systems.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience in handling Common Data Environments such as ACC etc
• Must have excellent communication and interfacing skills.
• Ability to manage multiple reviews and deadlines
• Responsive to changing demands
• Relies on extensive experience and judgment to accomplish goals
• Detail oriented and strong analytical skills
• Extensive knowledge of standard engineering practices, techniques, and procedures
