Vessel IT Officer

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• IT Support: Provide day-to-day technical support to office staff and vessel crews, resolving issues with computers, applications, user access, and connectivity.
• Microsoft 365 and User Administration: Support Microsoft 365 services and user accounts, including onboarding, offboarding, licensing, and access management.
• Devices and Endpoint Management: Set up, deploy, and maintain computers and mobile devices, using tools such as Microsoft Intune to support application delivery, updates, and device security.
• Servers and IT Infrastructure: Assist with the operation, maintenance, and deployment of office and onboard infrastructure, including Windows Server, Active Directory, virtualization, and cloud services.
• Networking and Connectivity: Support and troubleshoot office and vessel networks, Wi-Fi, firewalls, and internet connectivity, working with colleagues and service providers as needed.
• Vessel Systems and Applications: Support onboard IT systems and business applications, coordinating troubleshooting, installations, and maintenance with vessel crews and vendors.
• Cybersecurity: Follow company security procedures, support updates and endpoint protection, and identify and escalate potential security incidents.
• Incident Handling and Documentation: Take ownership of assigned support cases, document solutions, maintain technical procedures, and escalate issues when required.
• Projects and Improvements: Participate in IT projects, system upgrades, and vessel deployments, and contribute to improvements in service delivery and daily operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Relevant experience in IT support, systems administration, or infrastructure operations is preferred. Candidates at an earlier career stage with strong technical foundations and a willingness to learn are also encouraged to apply.
• Strong practical knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Windows environments, including user support, account administration, and troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of Active Directory and Windows Server. Experience with Entra ID, Intune, or Azure is an advantage.
• A solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and Wi-Fi, with practical network troubleshooting skills. Experience with Palo Alto or other enterprise firewalls is an advantage.
• Familiarity with virtualization, backup and recovery, and IT security practices is beneficial.
• Experience supporting vessel IT systems, maritime applications, or infrastructure deployments is an advantage, but is not required.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a structured approach to identifying issues, resolving problems, and escalating when needed.
• A service-minded attitude and an interest in learning and developing technical skills.
• Good written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate clearly with colleagues, vessel crews, and service providers.
• Able to take ownership of assigned tasks, work independently within their area of competence, and collaborate with the wider IT team when support or escalation is needed.
• Willing to work rotating shifts supporting 24/7 operations, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
