What they need

About Dress for Success Houston

Dress for Success Houston empowers women to achieve economic independence through professional clothing, career development, job-search support, and workforce development programs, all provided at no cost to the women we serve.

Our Veteran Program helps women veterans build community, access resources, strengthen professional skills, and connect with opportunities that support their next chapter.

Help Women Veterans Build What Comes Next

Dress for Success Houston is looking for a Veteran Program Associate to join our Programs team and help women veterans build confidence, connections, and pathways toward their professional and personal goals.

This is a relationship-centered role for someone who enjoys working directly with people, creating meaningful program experiences, building community partnerships, and connecting individuals with resources and opportunities.

Working closely with our Program Manager, you’ll help deliver programming, engage members, and steward the strong network of Veteran Service Organizations, community partners, volunteers, and subject matter experts that support our Veteran Program.

You will also help support Dress for Success Houston’s broader professional development opportunities, to encourage employed veterans to join the Professional Women’s Group (PWG). Programs will include Digital Literacy, Financial Literacy, Voices of Success Toastmasters Club, and other leadership and career development programs.

Key Responsibilities

Support Veteran Programming

  • Help plan and deliver workshops, orientations, cohorts, wellness programming, and special events.
  • Coordinate presenters, communications, logistics, volunteers, and event details.
  • Support member recruitment, engagement, and retention.
  • Monitor member needs and identify opportunities to strengthen the program experience.
  • Track participation and program metrics and assist with reporting.

Build Relationships & Community

  • Maintain relationships with Veteran Service Organizations, referral sources, community partners, volunteers, and subject matter experts.
  • Represent Dress for Success Houston at veteran-focused meetings, networking opportunities, and community events.
  • Help veterans connect with community resources, professional opportunities, and DFS Houston programs.

Connect Members to Professional Development

  • Help veterans transition into PWG and other professional development opportunities.
  • Support recruitment, communications, logistics, and participant engagement for cross-program initiatives such as Digital Literacy, Financial Literacy, and Toastmasters.
  • Build familiarity with our broader program portfolio so you can help members find opportunities that fit their goals.

Grow as a Leader

This position offers the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility for programs, cohorts, partnerships, projects, and team initiatives as your skills and experience grow.

You may be a great fit if you:

  • Enjoy building genuine relationships and creating a sense of community.
  • Have experience working with clients, volunteers, community partners, and external stakeholders.
  • Have experience organizing educational, training, or professional development programs.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally.
  • Are comfortable working with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Can manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Are a collaborative team member who also takes initiative and follows through.
  • Are comfortable with Microsoft 365, Excel, Zoom, and learning systems such as Salesforce.

Experience working with women veterans or within the veteran community is strongly preferred.
