Veterinarian Technician/Assistant

We are looking for experienced technicians/assistants to complete our team.

We are currently a 2 doctor veterinary practice that opened in December of 2011.

**Almost fully staffed. We actually have more staff than most clinics usually do.

**No need to worry about boarding or overnight hospitalization so no gross cages to welcome you in the morning.

The salary is negotiable depending on experience. Our range is $15-25/hour, but could be less or more depending on your experience. It is complimented with vacation, SIMPLE IRA, staff discounts, insurance, and more. See below for a list of qualifications. The technician or assistant must be proficient in the following:

• Assist the veterinarian during examination of animals, providing restraint as needed in order to work safely and effectively.
• Administer anesthesia to animals, under the direction of the veterinarian, and monitor the animal’s responses to anesthetics so that dosages can be adjusted.
• Obtain radiographs of animals with knowledge of proper positioning and techniques.
• Care for and monitor the condition of animals recovering from surgery.
• Perform urinalyses and be able to read cytology's including ear and skin.
• Administer emergency first aid.
• Collect, prepare, and label samples for laboratory testing, culture, or microscopic examination.
• Clean and sterilize instruments, equipment, and materials.
• Provide the veterinarian with the correct equipment and instruments, as needed.
• Fill prescriptions, measuring medications and labeling containers.
• Prepare animals for surgery, performing such tasks as shaving surgical areas and placing IV catheters.
• Perform venipuncture blood draws, including jugular.
• Maintain clean examination rooms and clinic areas.
• Educate the client on all recommended services and products.
• Perform routine rechecks, boosters, etc.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour

Experience:

• Veterinary assistant: 1 year (Required)

License/Certification:

• Veterinary Technician Certification (Preferred)
