Veterinary Technician or Experienced Veterinary Assistant – Full Time | $17–$22/hr

Forest Park Animal Clinic is looking for an experienced Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant to join our growing team.

We are a privately owned small animal practice focused on providing high-quality medicine while building long-term relationships with our clients and their pets. Our motto is “Loving Pets and Their People,” and we work hard to create an environment where patients receive excellent care without making appointments feel rushed or impersonal.

With our veterinary team growing, we are adding another experienced clinical team member who is comfortable working in a busy hospital and wants to be part of a collaborative, supportive team.

What Makes Our Practice Different

We schedule primarily 30-minute appointments because we believe good veterinary care takes time. Our doctors and support team work closely together, and we want our technicians and assistants actively involved in patient care—not simply moving pets from one place to another.

This is a hands-on clinical position. We are looking for someone who enjoys patient care, client communication, treatment-room medicine, and helping doctors stay efficient while still providing individualized care.

Responsibilities May Include

• Assisting veterinarians with outpatient appointments
• Obtaining patient histories and communicating with clients
• Venipuncture and blood sample collection
• Placing IV catheters
• Running in-house laboratory testing
• Preparing and submitting reference laboratory samples
• Taking radiographs
• Monitoring hospitalized and treatment patients
• Administering medications and treatments as directed
• Assisting with dental and surgical procedures
• Anesthesia monitoring based on experience and training
• Preparing patients and the surgical/dental area for procedures
• Maintaining accurate medical records
• Filling medications and reviewing discharge instructions
• Performing technician/assistant appointments as appropriate
• Helping maintain clean, organized treatment and patient-care areas
• Communicating with other team members to keep appointments and treatments moving efficiently
• Providing compassionate handling and low-stress patient care whenever possible

Responsibilities will be based on the individual's training, experience, and licensure.

Licensed Veterinary Technicians are encouraged to apply, but licensure is not required for experienced veterinary assistants.

We are particularly interested in applicants with strong skills in anesthesia, dentistry, venipuncture, catheter placement, radiology, laboratory work, and treatment-room patient care.

Schedule

This is a full-time position.

Our regular clinic hours are:

Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM–6:00 PM
Closed for lunch from 12:00–1:00 PM

Full-time clinical team members have a regular weekday off each week.

We are currently open one Saturday per month from 9:00 AM–1:00 PM, with Saturday coverage rotating among team members.

Some flexibility around opening and closing responsibilities is required, as patient care does not always end exactly at the scheduled closing time.

Compensation

$17.00–$22.00 per hour, based on veterinary experience, clinical skill level, and licensure.

Candidates with strong technical skills—including anesthesia monitoring, dentistry, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, radiology, laboratory work, and the ability to contribute independently after orientation—will be considered toward the upper end of the range.
