Veterinary Assistant and Technician

Duties

• Assist veterinary technicians and veterinarians with animal examinations, treatments, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures
• Handle a variety of animals including dogs and cats with gentle restraint and proper animal husbandry techniques
• Perform cleaning and sanitation of kennels, treatment areas, surgical instruments, and equipment to maintain a sterile environment
• Support with medication administration, IV insertions, catheterizations, and other clinical tasks following veterinary protocols
• Manage record keeping accurately for patient histories, medication logs, and client communications
• Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding animal care instructions
• Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) during all procedures to maintain safety for staff and animals

Qualifications

• Prior kennel or veterinary clinic experience is highly preferred, but not required. Starting pay will depend on experience. We have your training broken into skills sets which you will learn and also earn pay raises as the sets are completed. You are in full control so be eager to listen and learn.
• Animal handling skills with an understanding of animal behavior is preferred, but can be taught in the job
• Excellent record keeping skills with attention to detail for accurate documentation
• Ability to communicate clearly with clients and team members in a professional manner
• Willingness to learn new skills related to animal care, critical care procedures, and clinic operations.
• MUST have reliable transportation.
• MUST be able to work Saturdays 8am-1pm (rotating schedule)

Pay: From $12.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30.0 – 40.0 per week
