Veterinary Assistant and Technician

Duties

• Assist veterinarians and coworkers with clinical procedures including surgery, animal restraint, and medication administration to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Perform animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, cleaning kennels, and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques.
• Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques to minimize stress and injury.
• Support veterinary critical care efforts by monitoring vital signs, inserting IV catheters, and assisting with emergency procedures.
• Maintain accurate record keeping of patient histories, treatment plans, medication logs, and treatment notes with attention to detail.
• Communicate effectively with clients regarding pet care instructions, behavioral concerns, and treatment updates to enhance client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Prior experience or veterinary clinic experience demonstrating familiarity with animal handling is preferred, but not required.
• Experience as a veterinary technician or in veterinary critical care is highly preferred.
• Excellent client communication skills to educate pet owners on animal welfare and post-treatment care.
• Ability to work efficiently in a team environment while managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced setting.

Pay: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour
