Veterinary Assistant

Job Summary

Palo Verde Animal Hospital is seeking a compassionate and dependable Veterinary Assistant to support our veterinary team and help provide high-quality care to pets and their families.

Our hospital provides comprehensive veterinary care for the Phoenix community, including wellness and preventive care, vaccinations, sick and injured pet care, diagnostics, dental care, surgery, senior pet care, and puppy and kitten care.

The Veterinary Assistant will work closely with veterinarians and veterinary technicians to support patient care, maintain clean and organized treatment areas, prepare patients and equipment, and help ensure an efficient and positive experience for clients and their pets.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with daily patient care
• Safely handle and restrain dogs and cats during examinations and treatments
• Prepare examination and treatment areas before appointments
• Assist with routine wellness visits and preventive care
• Help prepare patients and equipment for diagnostic and medical procedures
• Support the team during blood draws, laboratory testing, radiographs, and other procedures as directed
• Clean, disinfect, and maintain examination rooms, treatment areas, kennels, and equipment
• Monitor patients and promptly communicate concerns to the veterinary team
• Help maintain accurate patient information and medical records
• Prepare supplies and restock clinical areas as needed
• Provide compassionate support to pets and communicate professionally with clients
• Follow hospital safety, sanitation, and animal-handling procedures
• Work collaboratively with veterinarians, technicians, customer service staff, and other team members

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous veterinary, animal care, kennel, or pet care experience is helpful
• Comfortable working with dogs and cats of different sizes and temperaments
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Dependable, organized, and attentive to detail
• Ability to work effectively in a busy veterinary environment
• Willingness to learn veterinary terminology and clinical procedures
• Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team
• Compassionate and professional approach to animals and their owners
• Ability to perform physical duties associated with animal handling and veterinary care

Preferred Experience

Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant, Kennel Assistant, Animal Care Attendant, Veterinary Receptionist, or in another animal-care position is preferred but not necessarily required depending on training and experience.

Pay: $2,700.00 - $3,100.00 per month
