Veterinary Assistant

Job Summary

Good Care Animal Clinic is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and organized Veterinary Assistant to support our veterinary team and provide attentive care to dogs and cats.

The Veterinary Assistant will help with patient handling, examination-room preparation, routine clinical procedures, maintaining treatment areas, client communication, and day-to-day hospital operations. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with animals and wants to build practical experience in a professional veterinary environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary staff during examinations and treatments.
• Safely handle and restrain dogs and cats as directed by clinical staff.
• Prepare examination and treatment rooms for appointments.
• Help collect and organize patient information before examinations.
• Assist with routine laboratory and diagnostic procedures within the scope of the position.
• Prepare supplies and equipment needed for procedures.
• Support the veterinary team with vaccination and preventive-care appointments.
• Assist with patient preparation and recovery for procedures as directed.
• Clean and disinfect examination rooms, treatment areas, kennels, and equipment.
• Monitor patients and promptly communicate concerns to the appropriate veterinary team member.
• Help maintain accurate and organized patient records.
• Restock medical and animal-care supplies.
• Provide compassionate assistance to pets and their owners.
• Follow clinic protocols for sanitation, infection control, animal handling, and workplace safety.
• Assist with other veterinary and clinic duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Genuine interest in animal health and veterinary care.
• Comfortable working with dogs and cats of different sizes and temperaments.
• Ability to follow veterinary staff instructions carefully.
• Good communication and customer-service skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Dependable attendance and professional attitude.
• Ability to perform physical duties associated with animal handling and maintaining clinical areas.
• Previous veterinary assistant, animal care, kennel, shelter, or related experience is preferred but may not be required depending on the clinic's hiring needs.

Pay: $3,500.00 - $3,700.00 per month
