Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Veterinary Assistant to join our dynamic veterinary team. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your animal care skills while supporting veterinarians in delivering high-quality medical services. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for animal welfare and a desire to contribute to a caring veterinary environment.

Responsibilities

• Able to gather pertinent history on all patients coming in.
• Handle animals safely and compassionately, tailoring the needs to each animal.
• Perform animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, cleaning, grooming, and cleaning kennels or runs.
• Support the maintenance of a clean and organized clinic environment by performing cleaning duties and ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Aid in client communication by providing pet care instructions, explaining procedures, and addressing basic client inquiries.
• Be able to perform various injections (IV, Sub-q, and IM injections)
• Fill medications according to veterinarian instructions.
• Take phone calls and schedule appointments
• Able to administer medications

Requirements

• Prior veterinary assistant experience in a general practice setting.
• Experience with veterinary critical care and surgery support is advantageous.
• Knowledge of veterinary terminology, record keeping, medication administration, and animal restraint techniques.
• Strong animal handling skills across various species including dogs and cats.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and team members professionally.
• Commitment to animal welfare, safety protocols, and proper use of PPE at all times.
• A genuine interest in veterinary medicine with a desire to learn and grow within the field.
• Able to lift at least 40 pounds alone, 50+ pounds with assistance
• Be able to stand for long periods of time.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40.0 per week
