Veterinary Assistant

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to veterinarians and veterinary technicians in delivering high-quality care to animals. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal welfare and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for assisting with various tasks in a veterinary clinic, ensuring the comfort and safety of our animal patients.

Duties

• Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth workflow.
• Perform animal restraint techniques to facilitate examinations and treatments.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including kennels and treatment areas.
• Prepare and administer medications as directed by the veterinarian.
• Monitor the health and behavior of animals in our care, reporting any concerns to the veterinary staff.
• Assist with animal catheterization and other medical procedures as needed.
• Utilize aseptic techniques during surgical procedures to prevent infection.
• Provide basic animal care, including feeding, bathing, and exercising animals.
• Keep accurate records of patient information, treatments, and medications administered.
• Educate pet owners on proper animal care practices.

Skills

• Proficiency in veterinary terminology to communicate effectively within the clinic.
• Knowledge of animal anatomy to assist in examinations and treatments.
• Experience with animal catheterization is a plus.
• Familiarity with equine care is beneficial for handling large animals.
• Strong understanding of kennel management practices for optimal animal welfare.
• Ability to perform basic animal restraint techniques safely and effectively.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with pet owners and team members.
• A commitment to providing compassionate care for all animals.
• Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.00 - $17.00 per hour
