Duties

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment, restraining animals, and supporting critical care efforts.
• Handle animal restraint safely and effectively, including dog handling, equine experience, and other species as needed to facilitate examinations or treatments.
• Perform animal husbandry tasks such as cleaning kennels, and maintaining sanitary conditions within kennels and treatment areas.
• Support clinical procedures including IV insertion, medication administration, catheterization, and record keeping to ensure accurate documentation of patient care.
• Maintain a clean and organized clinic environment by following proper PPE use protocols and cleaning procedures to promote animal welfare and staff safety.
• Assist with animal behavior assessments, pet care education for clients, and support for animal welfare initiatives within the clinic.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary clinic experience is required; familiarity with animal handling techniques is essential.
• Knowledge of veterinary terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic surgical procedures enhances your ability to support clinical teams effectively.
• Experience with record keeping systems related to veterinary care or client interactions is advantageous.
• Strong skills in animal restraint, medication administration, IV insertion, catheterization, and use of PPE are necessary for safe practice.
• Excellent communication skills for engaging with clients about pet care needs while demonstrating compassion and professionalism.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting animals or equipment regularly throughout shifts; comfort working in fast-paced environments.
• A genuine passion for animal welfare combined with a proactive attitude toward learning new skills in veterinary critical care or specialized areas like equine or dog handling.
