Veterinary Assistant

Job Summary:
As a Veterinary Assistant, you will support veterinarians and veterinary technicians in the daily care and treatment of animals. This role involves hands-on work with patients, client communication, cleaning and maintenance, and administrative tasks. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, comfortable handling animals, and able to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong team spirit.

Responsibilities:

• Assist veterinarians and technicians with exams, treatments, and procedures
• Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately
• Prepare exam rooms and surgical areas with necessary equipment and supplies
• Clean and sterilize equipment, cages, kennels, and exam rooms
• Feed, walk, and monitor hospitalized or boarding patients
• Administer medications as directed by the veterinary team
• Maintain accurate patient records and assist with client communication
• Provide support at the front desk when needed (answering phones, scheduling, checking in/out clients)
• Follow all safety protocols and clinic policies
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment

Qualifications:

• Prior experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting preferred but not required
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Ability to handle animals of all sizes safely and confidently
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Able to work well in a team and adapt to changing priorities
• Must be reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented
• Willingness to work evenings or weekends as needed

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $10.00 - $17.00 per hour
