Veterinary Assistant

Responsibilities

Assist with animal restraint, handling, and care during examinations, treatments, and surgeries to ensure safety and comfort for both animals and staff.
Assist with and preform procedures such as IV insertions, catheterizations, medication administration, and laboratory sample collection.
Maintain a clean and sterile environment by performing thorough cleaning, disinfection, and sanitation of kennels, treatment areas, and equipment using proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
Record accurate medical information, treatment details, and client communications in the clinic’s record-keeping system.
Assist with laboratory tasks such as sample processing and basic testing to aid in diagnostics.
Support front desk duties including client communication, appointment scheduling, and check-in/check-out processes to enhance client experience.

Requirements

Previous kennel experience or veterinary clinic experience is highly preferred; candidates should demonstrate familiarity with animal husbandry and basic veterinary terminology.
Experience with dog/cat handling, animal restraint techniques, and understanding of animal behavior is essential for ensuring safe interactions.
Knowledge of aseptic techniques, laboratory procedures, medication administration, and surgical support is advantageous.
Ability to perform cleaning duties diligently while adhering to safety protocols involving PPE use.
Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration are necessary.
Applicants must be motivated learners eager to develop skills in veterinary critical care, animal catheterization, record keeping, and laboratory procedures.

Pay is based on experience
