Veterinary Assistant

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our animal patients while supporting veterinarians in various clinical tasks. This position requires a strong passion for animal welfare, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of animals.
• Handle and restrain animals during examinations and treatments with proper techniques.
• Provide basic pet care, including feeding, bathing, and exercising animals as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including examination rooms and surgical areas.
• Perform laboratory tests such as blood work and urinalysis under the supervision of veterinary staff.
• Administer medications and vaccines as directed by veterinarians.
• Assist with animal catheterization and other medical procedures while adhering to aseptic techniques.
• Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and managing patient records.
• Educate pet owners on proper animal husbandry practices and post-operative care.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of animal anatomy and basic veterinary terminology is essential.
• Experience in dog handling and animal restraint techniques is preferred.
• Familiarity with veterinary critical care practices is a plus.
• Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care facility is advantageous but not required.
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with pet owners and team members.
• Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
