Veterinary Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at a busy veterinary clinic. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for animal care and welfare, along with the ability to assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing high-quality medical care to our patients. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of the clinic and the well-being of our furry clients.

Duties

• Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring that animals are comfortable and safe.
• Handle and restrain animals for examinations, treatments, and procedures.
• Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring they are clean and stocked with necessary supplies.
• Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian or veterinary technician.
• Monitor animal health and report any changes or concerns to the veterinary staff.
• Provide basic pet care, including feeding, bathing, and grooming as needed.
• Maintain accurate patient records and assist with scheduling appointments.
• Ensure adherence to aseptic techniques during procedures to minimize infection risks.
• Support kennel operations by cleaning kennels, exercising animals, and monitoring their behavior.

Skills

• Knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology to provide effective support in medical procedures.
• Proficient in animal handling techniques to ensure safety for both staff and animals.
• Experience in a veterinary clinic setting is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
• Familiarity with medication administration protocols is a plus.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
