Veterinary Assistant

Lakeview Veterinary Care is seeking a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our team in Richmond, IL.

Job Description:

The veterinary assistant provide support to the veterinarian and the veterinary technicians.

Veterinary assistants should have excellent client communication skills, be able to stay calm and efficient during a medical crisis, be able to perform heavy lifting and stand for long periods of time, experience with medical terminology, understanding of dog and cat breeds and temperaments, and experience and proficiency restraining animals.

The veterinary assistant should be a team player and promote a positive attitude among the staff and be able to handle stress and pressure with poise and tact. The assistant technician should always maintain a professional appearance and be friendly and helpful with clients. A love of animals in general and truly enjoying working with them on a daily basis is an absolute necessity.

Requirements:

• Sufficient mathematical skills to ensure the administration of accurate drug and fluid doses,
• Ability to successfully restrain animals,
• Complete clinical laboratory tests,
• Assist in multiple radiology techniques,
• Assist the veterinarian in dental procedures,
• Perform basic grooming services.
• Assist in the kennel area and to clean as needed to ensure all tasks are performed to Lakeview Veterinary Care standards.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour

Experience:
