Veterinary Assistant

Overview: Okie Paws Veterinary Clinic is seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will provide high-quality care to our patients, assist the veterinarians during medical procedures, and ensure the smooth operation of our clinic. Key Responsibilities:

• Assist veterinarians and technicians during exams, procedures, and surgeries.
• Restrain animals for examination, blood draws, and other procedures.
• Perform routine laboratory tests, such as urinalysis and blood work.
• Place IV catheters and draw blood.
• Administer medications and vaccines as directed by the veterinarian.
• Prepare surgical suites, equipment, and instruments for procedures.
• Monitor animals’ post-surgery and provide care instructions to pet owners.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment in the clinic.
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting clients, answering phone calls, and scheduling appointments.
• Keep accurate medical records and assist with inventory management.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Previous or animal care (preferred).
• Knowledge of animal behavior and medical terminology.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle animals safely and humanely.
• Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
• A passion for animal welfare and exceptional client service.
