What they need
Experienced Veterinary Assistant
Passionate Paws Animal Hospital | Waxhaw, NC
Great Veterinary Medicine Starts With a Great Team.
At Passionate Paws Animal Hospital, we believe exceptional veterinary care starts with exceptional people.
We are a privately owned, Fear Free Certified, integrative veterinary hospital seeking an experienced, compassionate, and motivated Veterinary Assistant to join our growing medical team.
We're looking for someone who already has a solid foundation in veterinary medicine—someone who is comfortable working directly with patients, supporting veterinarians during examinations, managing technician appointments, and contributing to the daily operations of a busy treatment area.
Just as importantly, we're looking for someone who wants to continue learning, developing their clinical skills, and growing with our team.
At Passionate Paws, we practice veterinary medicine differently. We prioritize quality over volume, meaningful relationships with our clients, and individualized care for every patient. Our new client appointments are scheduled for a full hour because we believe great medicine takes time.
We bring that same philosophy to how we support and develop our team.
What You'll Do
As a Veterinary Assistant, you'll play an important role in our daily medical operations, working closely with our veterinarians and fellow team members to provide exceptional patient care.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Technician Appointments: Confidently managing scheduled technician appointments, including sample collection, routine treatments, and other services within your training and scope of practice.
- Exam Room Support: Assisting veterinarians during appointments, anticipating their needs, preparing patients, and helping maintain an organized and efficient workflow.
- Patient Handling and Restraint: Safely and compassionately handling dogs and cats using Fear Free principles and appropriate restraint techniques.
- Blood Collection and Laboratory Work: Performing venipuncture, collecting and processing laboratory samples, running in-house diagnostics, and preparing samples for reference laboratories.
- Diagnostic Imaging: Assisting with radiographs, including safe patient positioning and adherence to radiation safety protocols.
- Treatment Area Support: Assisting with treatments, administering medications as directed, monitoring patients, and supporting daily medical procedures.
- Client Communication: Providing clear, compassionate communication and reinforcing veterinarian-approved recommendations and instructions.
- Team Collaboration: Working closely with doctors, technicians, and fellow assistants to ensure patients receive attentive, timely, and compassionate care.
You'll be an important part of keeping our medical team running smoothly while ensuring every patient receives the attention and care they deserve.
What Makes Passionate Paws Different?
We're independently owned. Our focus is on what's best for our patients, clients, and team—not corporate quotas or production targets.
We believe in quality over quantity. We strive to give our medical team the time, resources, and support they need to practice thoughtful, personalized veterinary medicine.
We value work-life balance. No weekends, no on-call shifts, and generous time off around major holidays.
We invest in professional growth. We believe in developing talent from within. As team members advance into more specialized clinical responsibilities, we create opportunities for others to expand their own knowledge and capabilities.
We practice integrative veterinary medicine. Our approach combines conventional veterinary care with complementary therapies such as acupuncture, therapeutic laser, and rehabilitation, providing opportunities to broaden your clinical experience.
Your voice matters. We encourage teamwork, collaboration, and open communication. We value people who take initiative, share ideas, and contribute to making our hospital better.
We're growing. As Passionate Paws continues to expand, we're committed to developing the next generation of experienced medical team members who will help shape our future.
