Position: Full-Time Veterinary Assistant

Location: Bartram Trail Veterinary Hospital

Responsibilities

As a Veterinary Assistant, your duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Building positive relationships with clients and team members
• Assisting veterinarians with physical exams, procedures, and patient care
• Dispensing medications as prescribed by veterinarians
• Assisting veterinary technicians with radiographs, patient positioning, and anesthesia monitoring
• Preparing patients for surgery and assisting with surgical procedures
• Sterilizing surgical instruments and assisting with lab diagnostics
• Monitoring and providing comfort care to patients
• Supporting the kennel team with animal care (e.g., baths, nail trims, anal gland expressions)
• Performing other duties as required to support the team and ensure excellent patient care

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous experience in a veterinary setting is preferred
• Certification or enrollment in an accredited veterinary assisting program is a plus
• CVA (Certified Veterinary Assistant) is preferred, but hands-on experience is prioritized
• Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
• Compassion for animals and their owners is essential

Work Schedule

• 4 Weekdays: Arrival by 7:45 AM; estimated departure at 5:15 PM (1-hour break included)
• Rotating Saturdays: 7:45 AM – 1:15 PM

Work Environment

You will primarily work in the hospital's exam, treatment, and surgical areas, assisting with both routine and emergency care.
