Veterinary Assistant

Location: Evans, WA (Private Practice)

We are a privately owned, fast-paced mixed animal veterinary clinic seeking a dependable and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. We are committed to high-quality patient care, strong client communication, and a supportive work environment.

Position Overview

The Veterinary Assistant will support veterinarians and licensed technicians in providing medical care, assisting with exams and procedures, handling patients, maintaining a clean and organized treatment area, and helping ensure smooth daily clinic flow.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on animal care, thrives in a team environment, and is looking for a long-term position in general practice.

Schedule

• 4-day work week (flexible)

Compensation

• $17.73 – $20.00 per hour (DOE – depending on experience)
• Raises/Bonus on merit + performance based structure

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians during exams, treatments, and minor procedures
• Safe animal restraint and handling (dogs, cats, large animal)
• Collect patient history, vital signs, and basic medical information
• Assist with venipuncture, catheter placement, lab sample collection (based on skill level)
• Monitor patients during recovery from sedation/anesthesia
• Maintain cleanliness of exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical suites
• Communicate respectfully with clients and support client education
• Prepare medications, vaccines, and lab submissions as directed
• Support front desk and workflow coordination as needed

Qualifications

• Previous veterinary, animal care, kennel, or shelter experience preferred
• Comfortable handling animals of varying temperaments and sizes
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
• Dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented
• Willingness to learn and grow in clinical skills
