Veterinary Assistant/Technician

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant/Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our animal patients while assisting veterinarians during examinations and medical treatments. This position requires a love for animals, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Weekend availability is required. Experience is not required. Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures by providing necessary support and animal restraint.
• Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring they are clean and stocked with supplies.
• Utilize veterinary terminology to communicate effectively with the veterinary team and clients.
• Perform basic laboratory tests, including blood draws and urinalysis, under supervision.
• Administer medications and vaccines as directed by the veterinarian.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation of treatments provided.
• Practice aseptic techniques during surgical procedures and ensure proper sterilization of instruments.
• Assist with X-ray procedures as needed, following safety protocols.
• Perform front desk/reception work.

Experience
While experience is not required, an ideal candidate would possess:

• Proficiency in animal handling and restraint techniques to ensure safety for both animals and staff.
• Familiarity with veterinary terminology to facilitate effective communication within the clinic.
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques applicable in surgical environments.
• Background in laboratory work related to veterinary practices is preferred.
• Previous experience as a veterinary technician or assistant is advantageous but not mandatory.
• A passion for animal care and a commitment to providing excellent service to both pets and their owners.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
