Veterinary Care Assistant

We are looking for a friendly and professional individual to join our team of Nurses and Veterinary Care Assistants. Having someone who truly cares about animals is a must and the ideal candidate would have some previous experience of working with animals.

We have three sites across West Berkshire, in Tutts Clump, Pangbourne and Spencers Wood. Our nurses work a variety of shift patterns across the sites over a 37.5hr working week, which includes 1:4 Saturday mornings on a shared rota. No overnight duties are required as our OOH provision is covered by Vets Now.

The successful candidate will need to be confident and have excellent interpersonal skills. We also need someone who can stay calm and focused in a busy veterinary environment.

The main tasks of the role include:

• Maintaining high standards of hygiene
• Receptionist work including telephone answering
• Patient handing and restraint
• Assisting with inpatient care
• Assisting in theatre
• Running diagnostic tests on in house lab machines
• Admitting and discharging patients
• Opening up / locking up alone

Due to our rural location, it is essential you hold a full driving licence and have your own transport.
