Duties

• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kennels, cages, and treatment areas to promote a healthy environment for animals
• Assist with animal husbandry tasks including feeding, watering, grooming, and monitoring behavior and health status
• Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques to ensure safety for both animals and staff
• Support veterinary technicians and veterinarians with medication administration, sample collection, and basic procedures such as catheterization or injections
• Assist with animal intake and discharge processes at the front desk, including documentation and record keeping
• Observe animals closely for signs of distress or illness, reporting any concerns promptly to veterinary staff
• Support laboratory procedures by collecting samples or preparing equipment as needed for diagnostic testing

Qualifications

• Prior kennel experience or animal care background preferred; experience in veterinary clinics highly valued
• Knowledge of animal husbandry practices, including pet care, grooming, and handling various species such as dogs and horses
• Familiarity with veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and aseptic techniques
• Experience with animal restraint techniques and medication administration required; veterinary technician or assistant experience is a plus
• Ability to handle animals confidently using proper dog handling skills and understanding of animal behavior
• Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with veterinary team members and front desk staff
