Veterinary Nurse Vacancy
Remuera Veterinary Hospital – Orakei Bay Village
228 Orakei Road
Are you looking to work with experienced and passionate colleagues in a supportive environment?
Do you thrive in a team that delivers a high standard of patient and client care?
Remuera Veterinary Hospital is located in the picturesque Orakei Bay Village, with stunning water views of Orakei Basin, Hobson Bay, and the Auckland City skyline. You can learn more about the surrounding businesses and eateries here: https://www.obv.co.nz
The clinic is conveniently located next to Orakei railway station and offers easy access to the city and motorway links.
An opportunity has arisen following the internal promotion of one of our team members to another Veterinary Hospital Group clinic.
About the Role
This is a full-time position working a variable roster across clinic opening hours. Part-time applicants will also be considered (weekday and/or weekend shifts).
Opening hours:
- Monday–Thursday: 8:00am–6:30pm
- Friday: 8:00am–6:00pm
- Saturday & Sunday: 9:00am–5:00pm
Our clinic is well equipped with digital x-ray, in-house blood analysis, and full dental equipment (including dental x-ray).
Experienced nurses are given autonomy to utilise their skills and collaborate with the team to deliver excellent patient care and support clinic operations, while junior nurses are well supported as they develop.
While we value early-career nurses, this role is best suited to someone with established clinical experience due to our variable roster and smaller team on some days. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years’ employment in a clinical veterinary nursing role with proven competence, along with strong client care and communication skills, as the role includes both clinical and reception duties.
Ongoing professional development is encouraged, with internal and external training opportunities.
At VHG, we prioritise staff wellbeing. Each team has a dedicated wellbeing champion, access to counselling resources, and a strong culture of respectful communication.
About You
The successful candidate will:
- Hold a recognised qualification in Veterinary Nursing (this role is not suited to overseas-qualified veterinarians seeking VN positions in New Zealand)
- Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a clinical veterinary nursing role
- Demonstrate a high standard of patient and client care
- Be a positive, reliable, and supportive team player
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Be flexible with working hours to meet the needs of the clinic and team
What We Offer

- Opportunities for ongoing education and professional development
- A strong focus on staff wellbeing
- Competitive remuneration
