Overview
East Tennessee Veterinary Dentistry is seeking a compassionate, organized, and dependable receptionist to join our specialty veterinary team. Our practice focuses on advanced dentistry and oral surgery for dogs and cats, helping patients live healthier, more comfortable lives.
As the first point of contact for our practice, you will help clients feel welcomed, informed, and supported throughout their pet’s care. From scheduling consultations and procedures to coordinating records with primary care veterinarians, your work will help each patient’s visit run smoothly.
We’re looking for someone who combines excellent customer service with attention to detail and understands that families may feel anxious about their pet’s procedure, anesthesia, or treatment costs.
Responsibilities
- Welcome clients and patients and manage check-in and checkout for consultations and dental procedures.
- Answer phone calls, emails, and messages with professionalism, compassion, and accuracy.
- Schedule consultations, procedures, and follow-up appointments in coordination with the clinical team.
- Request, organize, and update patient records, including medical histories, bloodwork, and information from referring veterinarians.
- Help clients understand appointment preparation, required paperwork, and pre-procedure instructions provided by the clinical team.
- Review estimates and payment options with clients, process payments, and maintain accurate billing records.
- Coordinate communication among clients, referring veterinary hospitals, and our dental team.
- Relay client questions and patient concerns promptly to the appropriate team member.
- Maintain an organized reception area and support daily administrative tasks.
- Handle sensitive client and patient information with discretion.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a veterinary receptionist or client service representative is strongly preferred; specialty veterinary experience is a plus.
- Excellent customer service and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A calm, compassionate approach when assisting worried clients or navigating difficult conversations.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy.
- Comfort using computers and learning veterinary practice management software.
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology and medical records is preferred.
- Confidence discussing estimates, collecting payments, and explaining available payment options.
- Dependability, professionalism, and a collaborative attitude.
- An interest in veterinary dentistry and a willingness to learn about specialty patient care.
Why Join Our Team?
At East Tennessee Veterinary Dentistry, you’ll play an important role in helping pets receive specialized dental care and helping their families feel confident throughout the process. We value thoughtful communication, teamwork, and compassionate service.
